1969 Roadrunner

My father and I Just got this 69 Roadrunner from my uncle. It is a 383, slapstick auto. It was his wife's ex husbands who unfortunately passed away about 15 years ago. He was in the process of replacing parts and fixing it up as far as I know. When I mention a new part for now I mean it was newly installed and has since been stationary. The last time this old girl started was about 6 years ago, but I don't think it has been driven for at least a decade.

Rebuilt engine, rebuilt carb, new starter, new distributor with wires, wiring harness intact, wipers & motor work, headlights work, 1 tail light works, Holds oil with no drips, original horn works. Generally almost everything is at least present.

There is some rust on the surface of the car, the trunk floor is pretty rusted, rear quarter panel has a football sized section rusted out. Seats are pretty chewed up.

Should have it running within a month or so, most of the work is replacing the aesthetic aspects and replacing some of the old parts.

I would like to note that we were very fortunate to have gotten this car in the condition that it is. I know where it has spent the last 15 years and have been told it only had 1 owner prior to that. 59k miles on the odometer. Great for my first car project ever. Luckily my dad and I are working on it together. I am a prior mechanic on KC-135 stratotanker aircraft, but my car skills definitely lack. My hope is to use this thread to ask questions that arise and to gain insight from those who have more experience. Basically we are not planning on selling this car. Ever. We really want to get it reliable and Keep all the qualities we love about the car while still making it our own (color of interior for example.) for now.

Pics: I will add interior pictures when I get some more clear ones.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have a great project to work on. Is that the original paint? Don't do what I did and forget to get plenty of photos along the way.

Thank you. I believe it is the original paint. I can't see any additional paint layers. Should be F8 - Ivy Green Metallic.

My first was a 69 Roadrunner. My cousin bought it new in 69 and sold it to me in 73, Had 18,000 miles on it when I took possesion. 383, automatic with bench seats. Here is the only pic I have left of it, sorry for the poor quality. The car was a strong runner. Had only one race with a 70 Dart Swinger. Got him out of the hole but he almost got me at top end. Those 340s could really wind.
