Burned a little midnight oil with this peculiar warm spell we're having here in California. Very warm night. Got most of the paint done. Just need to get the oil pan and a few other pieces. Water pump and other accessories should be here thursday. Its like second christmas.

Jegs came today. I looooooovvvveee getting parts in the mail. Good times. Just waiting on one more item. Should ship out next week due to it being back ordered. Its worth it though, its the icing on the cake. Got a Mildon windage tray and srcaper, aluminum water pump, aluminum housing, water neck and thermostat, flexalite fan, Dynomax 3" glasspacks . . .did i forget anything? Probably.
On a side note- The car gods must want me to finish this quick because its borderline hot today. Almost uncomfortable in pants and a shirt. Hooray for global climate change!!!

Is that a 440 source water pump housing? If you haven't noticed yet there is a really big hole on the top, which when I called them they say is for a thermo sensor, so it turns out there is no spot for the thermo switch.

That looks sweet!

Thanks guys! I cant wait to drop the motor in.
No, its not a 440 source housing, although i was tempted to go with their housing because they are the only vendor that carries an original style housing with the lower outlet on the passenger side. Ended up just getting a standard aluminum one from Jegs.
The 3 threaded holes on top are all used. 2 are heater hose inlet/outlets and the 3rd that is being used in the pic is a temp sending i believe

Oh ok, I got the one from 440 and where you have the vacuum switch I have my heater hose and the empty one next to it is too big to hold a switch, I had to put a plug there.

No head work or cam yet . .

Test fit the motor tonight and ran in to the first issue. The damn headers. Anyone ever have fitment issues with headers in a charger? The header tube from cylinder #1 is making contact on the power steering unit as well as #3. Is there a better way to install the headers? Ive been trying with the motor slightly elevated, headers bolted down tight and the tranny completely free.

Aside from all that, I was able to pick up my new mopar daily driver . . .couldnt really pass up this up for 500 bucks. Just has a leaky heater core that leaves a nice puddle on the driverside floor. Totally fixable.

So are you trying to put it all together in one shot?

I know the header on the driver's side is fun as the steering shaft comes out and the header slides up from under the car, with the starter out. The passenger side just slides right up from the bottom as well.

Ahhhhh . . .from under the car. I'll try that today. Thank you! I wasnt trying to put it in all together, but once the motor was in and sitting on the mounts, i lifted it back up a little and attempted to put them in from the top.

SHES ALIVE!!!! After a whole bunch of swearing, beer, bloodied knuckles and quite a few trips to the local performance supplier the Charger runs!!! I ended up having to go with a set of hedman's. The first cylinders on both heads have the tube run up and over whereas the original set i had did not. Hence the clearance issues. Oh well.
Durring my trips to Vic Hubbords, our local performance spot, picked up an MSD Streetfire digital ignition, some Lokar carb hardware and some heat sheilding for the spark plug wires. The car will head to out to have the exhaust system welded tomorrow and the driveshaft heads out to be shortened. Fun stuff. More pics to come later and maybe some video if i can find a program to view or edit AVSHD or MTS files

I should have taken a look at the headers, as the new ones you got is the design I was thinking of, what are the apps for the old headers? They definitely look like they would cause issues.

hedman headers seem to be the best for the 440's
what kind of paint did you use to paint the headers?

awsome job

Well they looked like they would fit as there were bends in all the right places, just not enough of a bend i guess. I picked them up off craigslist listed as a set of generic 440 headers. Not b body specific. Lesson learned.

The paint you see on the hedmens is from an old can of high temp header paint i had lying around. It looks almost like a hammered finish and i messed it up a little bit in my frustration with the header issue all together. You can see the some of the scuff marks next to the "hedman" plate.

As soon as i get the drive shaft along with the new wheels and tires there will definitely be a succession of burn out and spirited driving videos
