1975 d200 carburetor replacement
I'm new to this forum and have a question in regards to changing a carb for my 75 d200 truck. It has a 318 with a 2 barrel carb.
The carb never has worked right, even after I rebuilt it.Someone told me the stock carbs have troubles on steep hills,(my driveway).
Should I get an aftermarket carb,if so which one?Is there an adapter plate which would allow me to get a different carb while using the stock manifold?
Any help would be appreciated.Thank You

You can get a 2 barrel carb new and run that or get a 500CFM Edlebrock carb and the adapter plate to bolt a 4 barrel to a 2 barrel intake. If you are going to be doing any other performance upgrades to the motor, I'd get an Edlebrock Performer intake and bolt it all on at once and set it. You will need to get the kickdown linkage hooked up though to the new carb (there is plenty of info on here about that).

Summit racing has a good deal on an intake manifold by Weiand called the Action plus. I believe it is $187. It has the "spreadbore" carb pattern. You could use a Thermo Quad or an AVS or even a Quadra Jet. Or just put an adaptor and run a holley type or AFB type.

I got on of those and it did not line up with my 318 mounting holes (maybe it was just the intake that I got though). There are a lot of deals out there though that can be had. Heck, you might even be able to find a 4 barrel intake and carb on craigslist.
