318 poly to 392 HEMI
My car has the 318 poly and bushbutton trans. Since these came right after the HEMI I'm hoping the trans I have can stay put.
I understand with the later engines ....LA engines....it would be a problem and an adapter is needed b/c the trans is different too.
Is an adapter needed for my swap or is it a fit?
thanks

in 1969 my dad and i put a chrysler 392 Hemi into a 59 plymouth wagon. that had a 318. we tryed to do the research at the salvage yard. the hemi stock exhaust only cleared the frame 1 inch. and the stock ext is VERY restrictive. the big cam we had did not work at high RPM. the hemi did bolt to the trans. had to cut the frame to clear the pan. i should have did a trail fit for ALL the parts first. and the extra weight made us crank the torsion bar the bolt was bottomed out. then the shock bushing would pound out. the stock cam has washer on the nose that you will need to transfer to a new cam. I DONT RECOMEND IT just keep it in a CHRYSLER body.

I ditched the low tech idea.
I have a wrecked 2008 Viper I just bought. Basically everything from the Viper from the water pump to the back of the seats will be chopped out and put into the 63 Dodge. I'll retain the solid axle as the IRS is too wide to be practical.
That gives me a 1963 Dodge Viper Bee...........I get the bark and the bite.......can't wait to start.

The stock firewall is going to be gone.......as well as the entire dash area.
