69 Roadrunner project begins

Well I just got my 69 from my ol mans house. He bought the car when he was 16 and rasied h3ll in it till he blew up the org 383. Next came marriage and kids (0ne of which was me) and she sat in the garage for the next 30 years under a tarp just waitin to be brought back to her glory days.

Needs alot of love but I think its a great start. I post more pics of the current condition here soon

The body is in good shape needs rear quarters but thats it. It a stock 383 car but its long gone, got a 440 punched 30 over still trying to decide between a 727 or go with the 4 speed. It will start out being a mild resto but we all know how that goes.

Welcome. Warms my heart to see the next generation getting involved. If it's going to be a fun car, put in a fun transmission, 4 speed.

Dude you have a really sweet ride to start with, I always dig seeing cars
in this condition, then brought back to be a great muscle car. Good luck its
going to be a fun build.

Yeah im really leaning toward the 4 speed. I have the tranny and the pedal assy out of a totaled 68 that my dad bought for parts bake in 78. Also have about five boxes of parts from it that he took off of it, I gotta start going through them and getting what I need and trading off the rest so I should have some parts up for grab real soon.

Have any of you converted a auto over to a 4 speed if so what all is involved?

u and me have alot in common my friend my father sold his 69 roadrunner 28 yrs ago to a buddy of his for yrs he wanted that back for so long well his buddy died and the car got passed down to his daughter then her brother took it from her.her brother then sold it to a family friend he sold it to another guy and one day my dad was out ridin around and he saw it on a trailer gettin ready to goto nashville,tn for good he would never see it again only one problem the title to the car has been in my dads name for the last 28yrs his buddy never had the title changed over needless to say the bird is sittin in the driveway right now and she got a major face lift keepin it old school

Well I havent gotten much done on it over the past few months but I did finally get the trunk lock un siezed and found a few gas tanks and some other parts as well as alot of rust. Its mostly just the center section thats rusted out so ill prolly have to replace the whole thing or just break out the bead roller and make a replacment panel for it. Got the interior striped down and thankfully its in good shape. Just gotta start saving to buy patch panels. Hopefully I have more updates soon on the progress

Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics

Por 15 makes a self leveling paint that would fill the rust dimples if it's not rusted all the way through. Just one more option for you.

Got to love those old road runners

Congrats on your car. I know how you feel I grabbed this one up that was sitting on a shop for since 1979. I also need a engine and tranny. But everything else is there. Along with a Dana 60.

Again congrats!!! nice find.

Ok thats what it looked like, thinkin about doing this to mine but not sure yet. You got any pics of the underside and the trunk just to get a idea of how it looks.

Anyone know what the widest tire is that you can fit under a 69 with just moving the springs?

Thanks

906 heads

These heads are working pretty good on my low compression 77 440. Performer intake with Edelbrock 750 carb really works good. Just need a little more compression to really wake it up even more.
