Hi all,
I just got my hands on a 70 roadrunner and have been going through it to determine what work I need to do. I removed the faded **** carpet off the rear deck and was surprised by what I found in the metal deck. The factory speaker holes were different sizes and facing in different directions...vertical and horizontal. I am curious to find out what the idea was behind this design. I know on my 73 Duster and my friends 68 barracuda, the speaker holes are the same size and direction. Can somebody enlighten me on this?

i bet the holes were for 6x9's and 5x7's right?
options and costs better options got the 6x9's lower got 5x7's even tho now 5x7's cost more than 6x9's lol

 

Yes, those are the correct sizes...but you can actually use a 6x8 on the smaller hole from underneath. The drill holes don't quite line up, but close.
