I recently cleaned my taillight buckets out, I sealed them, steel wooled the connections, and rewrapped the wiring in electrical tape. Everything seemed to be working fine. Then I was driving with the headlights on when suddenly, while turning on my blinker, the headlights, and front ambers went out. Also on the dash, the turn signals came on with a bright steady glow, and the brights indicator came on.
I checked the fuses, and nothing is blown. I replaced the brights switch, that did not help. Then I changed the headlight switch with a new one. That fixed the problem! However, I started driving and they went right back out again!
Does anyone in MoPar land have a suggestion? I could use any tips, because my wiring harness is old, and has many patches. So, following it with a tester will be tedious. I eventually want a new Painless Harness, but would like to get on the road. One last thing, it is definitely drawing on my battery. Thanks-

if its drawing like u say it is you should see the wire gettin hot? all i can say is bring out the dmm and go from their. gl btw painless wiring isnt painless

 

i woder if some steel wool splinters are shorting things out. if the dash lights went out along with the headlights and the dash light fuse did not blow, i'd start tracing the power feed to the headlight switch.

 

Thanks for the reply's, I will start looking into those suggestions first, and keep going from there. I will keep posting my results, maybe it can help someone else who is having a similar problem.
