How do I pick a Wiring Harness - '65 Satellite ??
Gang, need some advice. I have a '65 Satellite 2dr/383, well kinda restoring it.
The car has no wiring. As I start to restore it, body, paint, guts etc, the wiring harness needs to be selected. I have been doing some research and found three possible options below.
Can you take a look at these three and see what you think, is one better than the other ? Will they even work ? Is there another place that I should be looking ?
The car will be basic, no air, no extra lights, just plain Jane.
thx,
confused too many choices

harness
I think out of those three I would pick the Painless harness.
Note that these harness are aftermarket and are not duplcates of the original harnesses. That stated, the painless harnesses I think have the best quality and the easiest to understand directions. Second choice would be the Retro Ron francis.

thinkin with me dipstick
i have to do the harness on my dart, i am going with the ron francis. sign up for their catalog, you'll have it within a week. when you get a harness from them, you call and tell them what set-up you are running and they get it all ready for you.
the other option for basic, would be the ezwiring kit. it goes for 170 and ive read it is almost identical to the painless.

Painless has always been easy and simple for me. I know that they might cost a little more but easy it always worth the moeny to me.
Your going to have to figure out what you are going to need power to though and go from there.

I just installed a painless Non GM style harness in my 64' Went in ok, you'll have to do some trouble shooting and tweeking but overall not a bad way to go. They make a mopar harness, which is almost identical to the non-GM style I installed but used mopar colour coding on the wires, and is also more expensive. The harness i have allows you to go from a fuse box with 4 fuses to a 12 or 16 fuse unit. And has provision for a high out put Alt so no worries about frying stuff!
Installation is simple and the instructions very clear, the support offered by painless is also great, there were a few hic-ups with my 64, with the alternator and ignition hook up but a few emails and a phone call and it was sorted out, you might run into the same issues with your 65' but it's nothing a few beers and a afternoon can't fix!
i went with the 12 circuit non-GM keyed column kit as the Mopar kit was for the 66' onwards and there was some concern the switches, ignition, lights etc, are wired different in the pre 66' cars, the 'universal' non GM kit had more felxability, and was cheaper.
