Ignition issue??

Hello all newbie here.. I have a 1968 roadrunner 383 all original, was running and driving fine. Had to work a lot of overtime and it sat up for a month or so.. went out to start it one day and it wouldn't stay running, it would only run if you hold the key over just before it hits the starter.. I thought it was the key switch that went bad so I ordered a new one and that wasn't the problem, it still did the same thing with the new key switch?! I'm completely stumped and don't know what to do now? Any help is greatly appreciated!! TIA
