Interchangeable?

Interchangeable?
Ive been reading and getting both sides of the coin. The b-body 383 and 400....are the parts interchangeable. I have a 1973 Plymouth Satellite with the 400 but the intake is stamped with 383. I ran down the block numbers and found that it is a 400 well....found out after couple hours on the net. And Ive been getting nagged at all the parts that Im missing out thats for a 440 or a 426...person saying "yeah itll fit that 400." So, Id rather ask on a mopar forum, get a good answer and know...before spending couple hundred bucks and have something that wont fit.
And another thing, my quarter panels are bondoed to hell and back... Ive found panels for 73-74 roadrunner, but will they fit a Satellite? I read that the roadrunner is basically the same model...but will it fit. And if so, does anybody have any good websites that sells full quarter panels?
I really appreciate the help and help to come later on.

Try AMD for the body panels. They might be a little pricey but they fit like factory ones do.
As far as the motor goes, someone at some point could have swapped intakes on the motor. What is interchangeable between the two motors would be cam shafts, intakes, headers, and heads (not sure if the valve sizes differ though.) The rods and pistons are a different size I think. There are other people on here that know more about it than I do though and can set you on the right path.

Interchange parts
361--383--400 = B blocks
413--426--440 = RB blocks
Interchangeable parts are Heads, water pump housing, oil pump, exhaust manifolds.
Non interchangeable are intake manifold, distributor, rods.
If you have specific parts you are considering, post the ?? and some one should be able to give you info.

Now how come in racing catalogs like Summitracing and Jegs, some intakes and headers can mount on - 383-440; how is that if they are different block sizes like you noted. The intake that I was looking at that the guy said would fit was a "Tunnel Ram". Pardon if I sound like im being rude or anything, Im just a new person verifying things.
So, what exactly is interchangeable? Heads, intake, headers?

Parts
Look at your Summit catalog for intakes P/N P4529463 fits413/426/440 and P/N P4529117 fits 361/383/400.
Headers are listed by body style and will fit with B or RB blocks. The parts I noted will interchange along with some other parts. As I said, if you have a specific part ??, post it and some one will answer.
To close a 440 intake WILL NOT work on a 400

I believe it was with Auto Body Specialties Inc. I hunted for "1973 Satellite quarter panels", after looking for a little while (or short time) you'll come across some other pages. I didnt care for a few of the companies, they were bit rude.
Heres two of the contacts I saved:
Auto Body Specialties Inc. - (860)346-4989

Sorry Koon, the reproductions are only for 71-72 for now. They are working/thinking on door skins and fenders for them next. No, they will not swap. The wheel wells are longer/shorter, [cant remember] and other things. wont even make a good patch panel when cut up. I was talking to a small shop around here, they sell and fabricate steel. since the economy is ****, they said they would be willing to work with me and brake and roll a lower rear patch to the right contour if I could give them a good example. I didnt tell them for what car! Cant let them steal my idea! How far up do you need? My lowers are perfect, the damage was from the rollover. I smell opportunity!

the 440 had a taller deck heigth. same as 413, 426 WEDGE. This made the intake different than the 383 [also 400] more things that are different; distributor drive shaft, pushrods. Not aware of any 73-74 satellite quarters.

As he said heads will interchange, hense headers will also... intakes no due to a difference in block height...
