Buying a '67 Fury Sport

Hey all, hopefully I'm landing this topic in the right place. I wanted to get a bit of feedback from some folks knowledgeable in the area before moving on. Normally I deal in order vehicles prior to 1960. But I saw this and ran some numbers and liked how things looked.

Fella out here has a pretty solid 1967 Fury Sport convertible for sale. Some rust along the bottom of the rear quarters, dash trim needs to be re-vacuum metalicized, and it'll need a fresh coat of paint. Outside that, man, it seems pretty ready to go right down the road. Motor's clean, new top, original interior is almost criminally immaculate, lenses are all intact, chrome's all good.

I didn't want to waste a lot of the guy's time since I didn't have money on hand to wheel and deal - an issue I'm solving right now. When I go back, I'm gonna go through it a bit more, check oil and tranny fluid, top and window motors, and all that. Anything else worth paying particular attention to on this car?

He's got AC fittings to adapt the R12 system to R134a, and an extra set of tires on Cragar wheels to throw in at $7200. I think I can git him to settle on $7000 with crisp hundreds in hand. What do you think? Do you like the price for what it needs, and what should I be on the lookout for that I might not otherwise think of?

Unfortunately you have to be the one to make that call. How many other cars have you looked at?

By the time you add what it costs to have someone paint the car, you're going to be upside down in it pretty quick, IMO.

Buy the best, most complete car your budget allows.

I'm always looking. Problem is around here anymore, everyone thinks their roached out rolling chassis made of rust and dreams are worth a fortune. I'm probably on some government list I've pulled out of the bank so many times only to turn around and redeposit it the next day because folks won't deal.

I'll end up doing most of the body work myself anyway, of which there really isn't much besides patching those rear quarters. I'm looking at this as a good chance to put together some good trade bait if nothing else. In the mean time, it'll be damn fun driving around.

Welcome.

It is a desirable Chrysler product and a real eye catcher
One of my deciding factors is chrome condition as that can be hard to find and costly to repair. The price as you descibed it sounds fair to me.

I would like to know what engine, do you know? If it's a poly, parts are more difficult to obtain, 383 is good, 440 is a bonus.
