I've done a few searches but am having problems finding the engine oil and transmission fluid capacities for a 383 4bbl Commando V8 325hp. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Engine oil 5 qts with filter change, 4 without. Trans filter change capacities would be about 5 qts. If tranny is new, rebuilt, whatever with new converter it will hold 10-12 qts of fluid. Hope that helps....

 

Thanks, it does. What kind of engine and trans oil should I put in the car? Do you know oil filter and/or trans filter part number?

 

I can't help with part numbers...but, I'll give advice on the fluids. On the tranny fluid, i would use ATF+4, which is far superior to regular mercon/dextron fluid. It has friction modifiers in it that regular dextron does not, which equals better shifts and longer life. On the engine oil, I would use any quality name brand oil. I personally use Valvoline 10w-30. Hope this helped
