new guy

Hey yalls. I have been looking around on this site for awhile and it has been very helpful. I have been wanting another old school car for quite sometime. I found a 68 Fury III on CL for 600 (sking price) that looks pretty clean w/o a motor trans. The wife didnt say no so I might have to take a look at it sunday. The only beef she had was the fact that it didnt have a motor/trans so I looked on CL and found a low hour 440/727 out of a late 70's motorhome for cheap. Could be a god starting point. I have always liked mopars, my brother had a 440 cornet that was fast as stink when he was younger. Anyways thanks again for the help I have already gotten and hopefull soon there will be a 69 Fury in the driveway soon.

Welcome!

Just remember, the RV 440 motors were not built like the car 440 motors (HP wise). Also, that 727 will be most built right from the factory due to the increase in weight of the RV. Still a very good swap in though for a car that has nothing right now.

The more I look at this online I want it. I am so compulsive. We'll see if I can go look at it sunday, maybe bring the wife. Hope there isn't someone in the area who is going to swipe this buy, but here is a link to the CL add.

There never seems to be enough hours in the day. By the time I got home from church and got a few things around the house done it was dark. Well with thanksgiving right around the corner, and hunting comming up it might be a little while. The good news is that my dad slapped another coat of pain on the bunkbeds I am building for my kids so that project is closer to completion. I really hope np one buys this and in a few weeks (even closer to christmas) the seller will be near desperate. Pray for me guys. This is one of the few "project ideas" that my wife has not been against. I think she likes the look of it.

I bought my '68 Fury III off of San Francisco Craigslist in August.
I was looking for a B Body and kept coming across this blue Fury III.... for about a month! The guy was out of town and I sent him a message but, he reposted the car for the next 3 weeks. Anyways, when I finally went to look at the car, he told me that not very many people responded to his ad and I am assuming that I am the only person that followed up because, the car was such a good car for the money.... I couldn't let it go and drove it home!
If that Fury is meant to be yours..... it will be there! If not, keep looking.
Things happen for a reason! Rick

Haha, well said Silverick. I believe that too. Also, if the car was originally a 318 you’ll need more than a little elbow grease and grunt to get that 440 in there. If it was a big block car, of course, yer fine. I debated for YEARS whether nor not to put a biggie in mine. In the end, I decided I’ll rebuild the 318 and warm it up. Hoping for 300-ish horsepower which is just fine for a cruiser.

Welcome and keep us informed!
