Rear End Issues

On my 67 monaco i have a bad wheel/axle seal (found tons of axle fluid on my brakes), i was told i need to take the differential apart to get the axle out to replace the seals, is this true? is there anything i should look out for when taking this apart? am i in over my head?

thanks guys

i think all you have to do is unbolt the back of it and slap a new seal on, i think..... i'd do some research on it or wait for another member to be sure. i'm pretty sure thats all you need todo though. if it's what i'm talking about it's not a big job dnt sweat it only take ya like10 or15 mins top.

thanks for the response! i think its a seal closer to the actual wheel, you can actually see axle fluid depositing on the brake drum, so im guessing a "outer seal" while im in there it would be smart to do wheel bearings and other seals too, and inspect the axles. im just seeing if there is a "guide" as to how not to ruin my rear end! or if its worth paying someone to do
