Transmission not shifting.

Got a 1968 plymouth fury VIP 318 automatic transmission. This morning went to start the car and warmed it up shifted into reverse backed it out of my shop and shut it off. Went back to the car started it and all of a sudden won't go into any gear. Checked the trany fluid and it was still topped off looked great. Anyone know what happend?

From what I see the one from the column is still connected. The one I've marked in red hasn't been connected since I bought the car not sure what it is.

That is the thottle pressure valve.... If it is not connected it will burn the trans up.... It set pressures inside the transmission.... Not good

Well looks like I'll be getting the right one for the car. Awsome video as well i really appreciate it. Haven't driven the car almost at all since I've had it so hopefully i didn't blow the tranny while that wasnt connected.

From the photo, Looks like it has a 2 barrel carb on it... The linkage looks correct, Its just missing the 1 pivot bracket... As far as i know, you can still get that bracket..
The one that is connected to the throttle looks like the later pivot style and uses a different rod and pivot..

Something else I wanted to ask. It looks like i have the 383/440 throttle rod with the 318 bracket assembly on the motor should I stick with the 383/440 or get the 318 throttle rod. I noticed in this blueprint there is a adjustable swivel on the bottom of the 318 linkage. Where I do not on the throttle rod i have.

Good advice on throttle pressure. Some people think it's only for kick down or passing. Without the correct shift points the clutches will smoke quickly.

The photo was just an example..... You just need the pivot bracket for the set up that you have.....
AS for the rod adjustment, That is up at the carb. in you photo, the black cable is covering the adjustment. It is threaded at the end of that rod.....

Well got the kick down linkage all set up. Adjusted just like in the video still will not shift into reverse or drive but only will when the motor and trans are cold. Dropped the pan and took a look inside the transmission. All looked well and only a little bit of grime on the bottom.

Sounds like a weak pump. If you could pressure check it by placing a gauge on the pressure outlets that have a screw in it, you'll get an idea.

My assumption at this point is that you may have a Internal Failure some place within the transmission....
