How much is it really worth?
How much is it really worth?
Hello all, I am looking at purchasing a 1971 numbers matching 318 Challenger, however the problem is I'm not sure how much I should give for it. I went to see it a few days ago and it is a good driver and mechanically sound, however the body isn't the straightest, it is originally a GJ-4 Moss Green Metallic, the console needs a little work (heck of a rattle from it when driving), the windows don't work, rust bubbles under the vinyl top, and the wheels are obviously incorrect (also the exhaust isn't correct, but I don't really mind because it does sound pretty mean for a 318). Here is the link to the car http://www.streetsideclassics.com/sh...dge-Challenger
Now I know that 25k is for sure too much, but I'm thinking 15k, am I too low? I'd like some opinions from other MOPAR enthusiasts as to where should I be thinking, value wise.
Thanks

There price is about average the car looks good and drives so they will want all of what they are asking...Only you know if you want to pay that much...It look nice in the pictures but but pictures are very forgiving..I would say around 22000 just to get a deal..!5K is to low...Good luck...Dont low ball them or you might loose it all together and get thrown out of the dealership...Just kidding LOL...Bill
Everybody knows how dealers are alot of them want to use nada to value your car so i say turn the table on them that car has a nada retail around 16k in average shape and a sharp one around 25k. They know its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.Only 100% originial and correct cars will bring top dollar. 15k fair price for one in that condition
RE READ HIS ADD it has rust in the roof, body panels not straight (rust & bondo ?) , windows don't work.
So you are looking at an unknown body with the possibility of lots of hidden rust- A sloppy body job to hide the rust

I dont need to RE READ HIS AD.I understood it just fine.I wouldent pay 15 k for any 318 car.He said he was thinking around 15k.I just agreed that that might not be such a bad price if thats your kinda car.I wouldent want it my self im into mopars for there history of raw power and preformance and that wasent built on a 318 challenger.I want as much motor as i can get cause theres nothing better than seeing the bow tie & the blue oval boys with there heads hangin low. After you just dusted there a--.
I am very familiar with this company.. The one in NC any way.. I would not buy a wheel barrel from them. Their mark up is unreal on consignment.. Also the cars like this I have seen they had for sale are cars patched to sell. They look good until you get it home and start finding a bunch of rigged up mess..
For instance the bubbles under the top you seen.. Half painted underside,, monkey exhaust cut off under the rear axle,, Air shocks.. and old front end parts I see still under that car.. Leave that car their and don't look back !!!
