Why would you want a 6 pack (besides the cool factor) when you can have dual quads? easier to tune than 3 carbs.

Lol polara dude hit it right on the first post, lots of to the tune of 2500 big ones. then D hit it on the nose, if you dont know much about mechanical s, you dont want to mess with tuning a 6bbl. I remember my first six pack car, I kept screwing up the linkage and vacume leads, I had a buddy who knew his way around them he finally took me in under his wing and showed me the deal. Now its gravy, but the learning curve depends on if you have any body close to you thats messed with them before. you dont just take a new carb out of the box put it on and it works, thast not real world, you take it out of the box then you dial it in, then you tune it, then you continuously maintain it, especially the 6bbl setup. edee makes a nice 750 cfm performer carb that works great and requires little street maint. id go that route especially if your a beginner hot rodder.

well see my goal for the car is a Phantasm clone. so I need the 6-pack I found a few auctions on ebay for the 6 pack set but all it has is the 2bl carbs x3 and the intake manifold to mount them onto. so I know its missing some stuff. but its buy it now for $1750.

i know someone with a 1969 Camaro SS that he spent 16k on and it only get driven on saturdays. So I don't think mine would be that bad.

I think we need to ban 63 for saying that. (lol j/k)

Since you want to make a clone, then you will need the 6 pack then. I wouldn't buy used though. I know, I know, it's cheaper than new but what if one of or all the carbs need to be rebuilt? I would shop around and see if anyony offers a complete kit (intake, 3 2 barrel carbs, all the linkages, etc.) and see how much that is. You might get lucky and find out that its worth getting new over second hand.

Depending on how your motor is now, you might need to do a few things like a mild cam upgrade and maybe get the heads rebuilt or at least cleaned up some. If this is just for cruising and a sunday driver, then there is no need to go all out with it, but you might want to just go through the motor and freshen up things (bearings, clean everything, rebuild the heads, new mild cam, etc.)

just my thought though.

yeah I would most likely do some cleaning up on the engine including painting the block etc. since i will be needing to have the body of the car painted also I'll have some time to do it.

well I found a 71 Plymouth Barracuda for $9000 with a 440 engine. but it sold before I could get the money together so I'm back to square one on finding the car and locating the engine and transmission I want. there are a few cars I want and they are all from before 1980 which is when i think american cars began to suck. There are some exception to that for me but in general its what I follow.

so for now all I have is my 2 1/2 ton engine hoist, engine stand (750pound limit), and my daily car my 1993 Nissan 240SX hatchback (love that its a 4 cylinder and great on gas) but If someone knows of where in Michigan someone might have a affordable 71 Barracuda or Cuda let me know
