How to spend $280 to make $150!

I had a side job yesterday, so I popped into my trusty old truck, and headed off to Lakewood ( about an hour and 15 from my house. ) I stopped on the way down and filled her up ( $60ish. ) I got the job done, collected a little spending and headed home. I got 4 miles away when it happened. I was waiting at a light near Lakewood Town Center. Truck was running fine. Light turned green, I stepped on the gas and BAM! I heard a horrible moan and whining noise under the hood and the truck stalled. I was horrified at what I had just heard. I tried restarting it ( snapped timing chain going through my mind ) but to no avail. I got out, popped the hood to find my trusty 318 laying at a really odd angle. Then I noticed BOTH my motor mounts were busted! A nice Lakewood Police Officer was kind enough to push me out of the intersection into a nearby parking lot. I had the truck towed to a shop and had the mounts replaced costing $226. Now I am leaking transmission fluid like it is going out of style I'm HOPING it's just the pan gasket.

Someday I will learn to not even try to get ahead...

well at least you had some money to put towards the repair better than having to come up with it all at once

Man that sucks. And to top it off, once one thing lets go, all the other parts see how much fun it is and start doing the same thing.

At least you didn't have to spend all $280 bucks.

Well, swapped out the pan gasket and it still leaks like a sieve. I'm thinking I cracked the case when the motor torqued off the mounts. So, now it's a few hundred for a new tranny, or a few hundred for another truck...which to do...

Oh...I told my better half if her daughter still wants the truck, she can have it if she fixes it
