49 dodge newby
I recently bought a 49 coronet 4dr accidently. I made the estate an offer and they took it.
It is a straight original car and after some investigation the mileage is original at 11,800. The sad thing is it sat out on a farm and deteriorated for 30 years before finding its way into a barn. It runs great on the original plugs and wiring. I haven't replaced anything yet other than the fluids. The brakes leak and the hoses are brittle but everything works just as it should. The body is in great condition except the front floors since it had a wing open. the interior is intact but in pathetic condition. Touch it and it falls apart. The gauges were unreadable, covered in dirt but clean up beautifully and the chrome is immaculate after cleaning. The paint is weathered and much of it is gone. the headliner is falling but in perfect shape. Really the only thing usable of the upholstery.
I have previously (40 years ago) owned a 49 Desoto and a 49 Chrysler Windsor so am familiar with these cars. I just have to decide how much to restore it. It certainly isn't a very desirable model, but it is interesting.

Welcome to the forum! I believe that any old car is worth saving if you got the time and patience and of course the bucks to do it. The 49 looks similar to the 1951 Wayfarer I had as a kid. As far as bucks to restore, I'm sure it won't be cheap. This forum is a great place for questions to help you out along the way. Good luck!
