Smile '61 Fury Transmission Question

Hi Folks from New Zealand.

I have a 4 dorr '61 Fury with a 3 speed transmission (push button)
I work away from home and have just come back to a shed floor covered in transmission fluid.

One friend has said the steel sumps can get twisted if overtightened & it may be worth trying to get a cast alloy pan.

Thoughts?
Also keen to get the transmission model number if anyone can help me locate this.

Thanks from Rugby Country

Welcome to the site.... I would try a new gasket first if you are pretty sure the leak is from the pan.
This should help you find the rite gasket for the trans you have....

I haven't looked but I would suspect you would have a hard time finding an aluminum aftermarket pan for your 1961 trans pan. Clean it real good and make sure the bolt holes are not pulled thru. DO not use silicon gasket sealer. Use something like Permatex Hi Tack brush on sealer. Both sides of the gasket and torque to spects. Let it set for a few hours before adding trans fluid. Make sure to replace the O ring on the filler tube also the speedo gear attachment. If you have the skills also replace the gear selector seal A dab of silicon on the bolt threads is Ok.
It is not a torqueflight probably earlier cast iron loadflight
