Need to remove radiator from my 1950 Wayfarer. Hood only opens 18” or so by design. Thinking I need to 1) remove hood or 2) take grille and things behind it off the car (need to replace grille anyway). What is the easiest way to remove radiator?
No Problem.... It should be a good little project.... Very satisfying when it completed and ready to drive.... Keep us posted how bad recore is .... Cheers
Hoods on 1950 Dodges only open a short ways. Forcing the hood to open beyond that risks bending the hood hinges (stern warning from previous owner). I was able to lift the radiator out after removing battery tray and horns (backs of which rose above the engine bay cross-member). I did not have to remove the fan. Tilted top of radiator toward front of car as I lifted it and rose the hood absolute allowable maximum. Now off to the radiator shop for a core replacement.
