Well with more air means more gas. A programmer would help you out. A cold air intake and exhaust will help out with power for hauling and towing, you might get some better gas milage.

Best piece of advice I can give is to take it easy with it, don't get on it, do the speed limits. I drive 55 on the highway to work in my Dakota (01, V6, 5 spd, 2WD)and get 23-25 MPG.

cold air intakes and exhaust will increase your mpg's, but not too drastically

The programmer will really only help you with your motor since you have a manual, so you won't be able to get the full effects of it. I'd stay away from the programmer then.

What about an undredrive pulley kit? Short throw shifter? I know that a HD/performance clutch will help to get more power to to the tranny and to your tires so in a way, you won't be wasting fuel.
