Is it a rag joint or u-joint? Any decent parts store should have them or be able to get them.

I think those are the rag joints. Those you can get at just about any parts store.

there is no parts store around that carry that part. I thought the rag joint is the round rubber connection between the steering column and the steering shaft

The rag joint is usually down at the end of the steering shaft where it connects to the steering box.

If you can, take a picture of it and post it up so I can see what it is that you are talking about. The trucks of this generation used rag joint..... at least all the ones that I have seen.

lets talk about the catilydic(?) converter. i would like to put a true duel exhaust to include headers can remove the cat. and still be ok with O2 sensers. I have the 5.2 EFI (not the throttle body)

You have the first year Magnum 5.2 V8 in there. You need the O2 sensors in order for the MPFI to work properly. You should have an upstream and downstream O2 sensor. Just throw them on one side, one before and one after the cat and you should be fine.

You can but your downstream O2 will be reading the same as the upstream O2 sensor and the computer will think there is something wrong and throw codes.

You can get high flow cats and universal cats for pretty cheap.

To have the motor run no BUT you will if your state has emission laws and depending on the inspection laws (most states say that if a vehicle came with a cat, it needs to be there to pass). I would throw them on both side regardless, I did with my 1974 J10 and was able to find which side was actually running rich (had a dead cylinder and had the carb turned up too much).

I would still run a cat on both sides as it will help with balancing out the exahsut system. If it's not balanced enough, you will notice it. Also, have a cross over section installed as this will also help with the balancing.

One way to get around have no cats and still running the O2 sensor is to figure out what resistance the O2 is seeing from startup to fully warm. Maybe then build a resister and wire that in place of the O2 sensors.

That is only a theory that I have and am not sure how well it will actually work.
