Spider/cv joint

Has anyone ever done a spider joint for the front driveshaft on a 95-00 Ram? Mines a 1500. I did the u-joints last year, but it started making noises over the winter, and with that time coming again, I need to get it straight. I'm sure I boogered it up. The manuals dont explain it clear enough for me. I'm not talking about the wheel joints, but the spider joint inside the double cardan joint in the front driveshaft. They give a description of it, but recommend taking it to a shop. Yeah, right, me do that? Uhuh. Thanks for any help you guys can give, Scotty

They do sell rebuild kits for that joint so that you can rebuild it. I've done it once a long time ago. I don't remember it being that hard to do.

Update.. Wrong kit. "Oh that kind of center joint...no thats the wrong one and we dont carry the right one" Cause NAPA got in a pissing contest with Spicer and doesnt carry quality **** anymore. Hard to find a good full line distributor anymore. Just duchebags at Autozone that dont know anthing more than the computer tells them..."Partpullers"! Murrays in the midwest states used to be good till the O'Rielly buyout. I try to buy from my local guys but now I have to go online to get what I want. Gotten so bad that I have to refuse the Chinese **** and ask for the quality Japanese ****. Hell, even the Hencho En Mexico stuff is better than that Chinese crap sometimes. Thanks for the rant!!

That blows. There are a few sites that sell Spicer parts (of course none come to mind) so i am sure that you can find them. Also have you tried a local driveshaft shop? They can probably still get them from Spicer if not rebuild it for you cheap.

Update....Found the Spicer parts from dennysdriveshaft.com out of Buffalo. Good prices and great service. I ordered the u-joints, the center joint and the dust cover. While filling my order they noticed that if the parts that I ordered were for the same truck, then they wouldnt work together. Denny himself called me and and said one of his guys noticed while packing my order and brought it to his attention. Great save. We all know how returns can go. Anyway, he spent 10 min on the phone with me giving a few tips on installation and other tricks of his to make the joint last longer. Very satisfied with them.

That is great to hear. It's nice to know there are still some places that know what they sell very well and still have the customer come first.
