i have a 98 dodge dakota 4x4 v6 and was wondering what all needs to be done for me to put a 5.9 v8? Is the wiring diffrent are the motor mounts the same will the tranny from the v6 work if anybody can direct me in the way of my goal that would be awesome thanx .

 

You will need the 5.9 wiring harness and PCM. The tranny will bolt up but you will surely blow it shorty after getting everthing swapped in. I would swap it out for a 46RH. You will want to look into the torsion bar ratings between a V6 and V8 model as they may be different ratings. You may need to swap t-cases too as I think the NP231 case and inputs differ between the two.
