hey everyone,

I was going to use seafoam spray to clean some internal passageways on my 2006 dakota 4.7 - it says that it is not safe to clean the mass airflow sensor - I think we have an IAC instead - does anyone know if that is the case and if it would be safe to use?

The product is safe to use as directed.... We have used it in our Fleet applications for many years, with good results.

But as for mass air flows and throttle body's, you have to also check the cleaning procedure from the individual manufacture as not to damage the part your cleaning...

I have used seafoam in my fuel tank before - but this is attached and sprayed into the TB while the engine is idling +500rpm. I think it is to help it to circulate through more of the engine than just the fuel travel - vacuum and intake passages. I am going to be cleaning the throttle body and thought this might be a good time to try this as well.

Is this something that can be used on the 4.7? All of the examples on their site are older situations. The idea is sound though. More oil, easier movement and cooler movement. Should be a win win - I kinda hate to say that I had never heard of it before.

 

MMO was made in the early 20s. it is an upper lube. meaning it lubes the valves and top of pistons. my engines start MUCH faster. i set up a specl set up. i put the MMO in the gasoline. this lubes the injectors. that gets missed by the MMO going through the intake manifold. so i use a top cylinder lubricator that will get the valve guilds. ampcolubes.com so give George a call. to answer your Q, MMO will not harm any gasoline engine. use 4 oz to 10 gal of gas. with a top cyl luber set to use 1 QT in 900-1000 miles. but NOT for methanol fuel. a small about of over or under dose will cause no harm.
