So far this winter has been cold.. Well for Florida standards anyway... We had the coldest December on record.. Last winter set all time records for the number of mornings in Orlando under freezing. this year already they have had more below freezing mornings than all last winter. But this week is supposd to be about normal... Highs in the low 70's and lows in the low 50's... Not so bad compaired to the rest of the country!!!!!!

Short report on test n tune.... Had the normal new car gremlins and some that were unexpected.... The e-shift is still not going into 3rd gear. Only got into high gear on one run and ran 130 mph on that run.. but the car had bad wheel hop on the line.. So lost 11 on the 60 ft and 14on the 660. Car still ran a 10.50 but no great runs. We were pleased with the mph but not all the other stuff.. Final set back was we must have tipped at least 3 valves. Two cylinders have no compression and the third has only 130.... So now taking the engine out and getting it back to engine guy.... I had to leave this am but got a call at 8 pm tonite and two of my racing buddies are at my garage removing my engine to get it back to the engine guy... Is that real friends or what?????

Just a report on what has been found in the engine... We tapped all the intake valves and 4 of the exht... Needless to say a whole new set is now in the heads.... We also discovered what happened or at least why we got all the valves. The cam pin sheared.. Thus the timing was totally screwed up and that had valves opening and closing at the worng time and the pistons slapping the valves and just all hell breaking loose.. Wonder the damage wasn't any worse that it was!!!! Anyway, talking to cam guys and they said that the NASCAR engines had the same problem until they went to the 60 mm cams. But to fix the problem you install a stud into the cam and then fasten the gear to the stud with a washer and nut like goes on harmonic balancer.. So this is what we are doing now... Engine should be done by Wednesday so I can go test next weekend.. The following is our first Division 2 race in Bradenton Fl... Here are a couple picts at the track.......

Glad to hear you are working it out Mack. I am getting a little depressed reading about all the fine tuning needed for these cars. It's more than I had expected. Anyway, all your information has been a great help.

Hal, I don't think it that complicated to someone that is famiular with EFI. I'm an old fart that has never messed with it at all and even the names are not even close to what I know and its just a slow learning curve or at least for me..... But we are getting there... I expect the next outing will be much better.... Mack

Bradenton NHRA Division 2 Race One
Got to Bradenton and it rained all day long on Thursday.. This was our planned test session... Engine builder couldn't come on Friday so went at it alone.... First hit all went well and car ran a 10.38 at 131 mph. Index for AS/A is 11.00. Second hit I uped the launch RPM and the car responded well... Ran a 10.26 at 133 mph.... Done for the day but pleased none the less... Saturday am was great weather and gained another .05 seconds.... Frist round was Saturday afternoon and I had spent all my time working on the car and none on the practice tree.. It showed...... Dead Late.... Dialed the car 10.26 and it ran a 10.27. Just late on the lite and it was over before it began..... Anyway, put her up in one piece and was happy... Oh, did get another plus... We were selected as "Best Appearing" for the race... Proud of that..... Shot below is me leaving on Saturday afternoon in round one....
