Once I had a 1953 Jeep CJ-3A, nevr had more than with this vehicle. Flat head four engine, three speed on the floor, four wheel drive with lock out hubs, 900-15 tires on wide wheels with a lot of ofset to clear the leaf springs. 55 Buick hub caps to fit over the Warner Lock out hubs. Fold down windshield, River fording kit for intake and breather aand exhaust. (She'd run underwater).
Now, that was a sweet machine, those where the days.
My buddy put a v6 from a Olds F85 in his and challenged me to a pull.

My buddy put an aluminum V6 from a Olds F85 in his and challenged me to a pull.
We backed both Jeeps up, rear bumper to rear bumper. Hooked them together with an old seat belt. And both proceeded to pull away at the same time. He had more horsepower but little low end torque, my four had small bore pistons with real long rods. As soon as we started he pulled me little until his tires broke traction and I pulled him clear across the parking lot with his tires smoking.
Boy was he ever mad, he got out cut the belt with a razor and left in a cloud of smoke, I never say him again. That was many years ago.
You just can't beat those old flat heat four bangers with the transfer case in Low Low.

Sadly the MGB and the Sport Fury have been sold, just finished the deal on the Sport Fury, so I'm only left with my 58' TR-3A and my 08' Wrangler to play with.
