small block roller cam question

small block roller cam question

I have a comp 308 solid roller I want to install in my 340.both comp and crane tech sites say I must modify my oiling system.what mods need to be done?Any help on this would be appriciated.

Generally that means bushing the lifter bores and restricting oil to the valve train. What happens with a Roller cam is the lifter sits up higher and when the lifter goes up on the lobe of the cam it uncovers the oiling hole momentarily causing a loss in oil pressure.

I would take it to a machine shop familiar with running a mopar with a roller cam. I have also read that this mod is typical in Chevrolets but not needed in Mopars. Alot of the cam manufacturers have all the instructions geared towards Chevys. I would call Mopar Performance or Muscle Motors or someone else you trust who Races Mopars. They would be able to tell you for sure. Good luck.
