Anyone good at fixing Mac's?

Anyone here now anything about fixing a Mac, besides dropping it into a lathe at work in the morning?

It won't recognize the iPod, USB drive or any USB devise except for the keyboard and mouse, and the disk drive keeps spitting out disks, won't even read the install disk the mac came with!

What mac do you have ? Is it a newer one or an older one that runs power pc ? I run Macs and might be able to help.

It's a 2007 Duel core 2 Duo iMac running OS X 10.4.8 Everything else works fince except for the dvd drive, and usb ports! thinking a trip to the mac store on the weekend is in order.
