Bob do you remember the flame burnouts? I was thirteen I think when I saw a few at a strip in Wisconsin in 72? I don’t know it’s been a while I didn’t get back to a track until 76 and they were a thing of the past.

Yes... Only got to see a few of them... But that was pretty cool while it lasted....
We use to have lots of tracks around us here in SO-CAl.!!!!
Now we only have 3 and the closest is a 2 hour drive for us... Really sucks !!!!!
I'm not including Pomona because they only run mostly National events there... That track is only 20Min from me...

Darrell Alderman plead guilty for the drug’s and was banned from the NHRA for a few years. Do you remember when the Wane County boys shop was broken into and all their engines were completely destroyed? Supposedly it was to cover up the ports for the NOS that they were using a frame rail for. I don’t know if it was true but there cars were never as dominant as before after that incident.

The best year Mopar had in Pro Stock was when the Ultimate Ford guy raced for Chrysler one year and the Ford guy made the small block a killer… I can’t remember if Bob Gliddens year with Mopar was 78 or 79.

He did a lot of work on the block and heads concerning valve train placement. A few years ago I saw photos of one of his small blocks without the intake on and all the lifter bores were welded and either in different locations or closer to the center of the block or both, I can’t remember.

I don’t remember my parents getting after us kids when we were in the back seat but I remember sitting up front with my mom driving and when she was coming to a stop she would swing her arm over and block me from going forward. Yeah 1960s child safety seat, riding along and all the sudden getting whacked by your mom for no reason. lol
I think the last time she did that I was in my mid teens in the seventies. By that time she had to name all of her kids and the dog before she would come up with my name something I find myself doing in my sixties…
