I saw a commercial that BP put out saying that they have handed out "$87 million to those effect by this disaster."

At $5,000 a person, thats only 17,500 people. I think more than 17,500 people have been effected by this.

That's the sad part about things of this nature, you'll probably never get the truth. One thing as we all are aware, big business always has a bullshit department.

Also, the $20 billion relief fund that BP signed a few days ago is pennies to them......

( no where near as bad as BP's over there though ) i seen last night they said bp knew about a faulty seal on that rig that they never fixed . mmmm well only 2 1/2 years left to go now hahahahaha lol .

DK - It's great to see you one here! Where have you been and what kind of trouble have you been getting yourself into?

I heard that Canada actually has spills in water on purpose so that way there, they can practice what to do. I think that is a great idea.

I really don't think that the US government is doing enough about this though. Also, to see that the CEO of cleanup from BP in a yat (those really large boats that rich people have) race over the weekend is F!CK!NG stupid. I really wish that there was another planet where people with common sense, like us here on the board, could go to get away from all the stupidity.

I have not been able to keep up with it at all this week due to working 70+ hours. I did hear that a movie star funded his own device to stop the leak and the oil company is seriously considering it. Is this true?

I think many people have great Ideas on how to stop the leak but I guess you have to be a movie star for them to listen.
No I haven't heard of that, kind of stopped paying attention lately it been going on for so long. I'll be worried when it goes up to Colorado. I thought they were like drilling relief wells or something.

Relief wells wont hit the target area till mid august. Add 2 weeks for every hurricane or tropical storm since we are now entering hurricane season. Stock is now 29 per share. Still a good LONG TERM investment opportunity if you can look past things.

To the question of safety: They had 3 safety valves down in that well. Ironically all 3 failed! Why is that? None of them was designed to work in that depth of water. That's to me were the Government screwed up! You cant let them drill without knowing if the safety measures are sufficient. Also as of the first couple of weeks they tried to close the well so they can reuse it again! Are you nuts BP? As it went on I would guess most experts was hoping that the water pressure is high enough to keep the oil in anytime soon. Well that didnt work too well! Its a shame to see how irresponsible people are just to make more dollars.

Just my 3 cents.

I live in little old Kalkaska Mi. and we heard on the news last night that BP had a spill here in Northern Lower Michigan of 90k gallons months ago we never were told about! With all the fresh water and high water tables around here, that is a BIG spill too. Thing about it around here though is, it just soaks into the soil, "out of sight out of mind".

Makes us wonder if anyone in this country knows what Natural Gas is, how much of it there is and how clean it burns.

Natural Gas driven cars my friends....... Pass the word!

i hvnt herd anything about a celberty with an idear.... but i think bp should start taking sugguestions from just about any one considering there idea's have failed so far, i kno this is off topic, but could we run out cars and trucks off methan, like in mad max beyond thunder dome ?

Does anyone know what is happening with the spill as of late? I heard that they "capped" it. Is that true?
