Rice car clutch destruction rant

Well well well. Life has been keeping me beyond busy and then Murphy got involved yet again.

Yesterday I was on a tight schedule and had to appear in a court case (as a WITNESS, thank you) two hours north. Then I had to ditch that to be at an appointment back here (two hours south). No problem, I'm thinking.

I'm cruising down the road, albeit speeding, of course...music blaring. Cars are a car length apart on three lanes (I'm in the middle lane) at 70 mph. When traffic stops. Stops right there. A semi jack knifed in the road (it had rained a bit earlier) I'm in 6th and downshifting fast. Suddenly, my car does not move anymore. I have nothing.

I can hear the transmission engaging, but nothing, no power. It moves through the gates cleanly. I manage to get it off the road, much to the chagrin of other drivers (they can eat my a$$ at this point).

I get a buddy to come pick me up and I still made it to the appointment in time. I get my Durango and a tow dolly and drag this car to my buddy who builds transmissions.

Somehow, I managed to detroy an ACT custom built Stage II Race Clutch with a billet flywheel. I'm not sure if I should be proud or just pissed. Of course, to have another built will be a month. So I'm looking at some others options/brands this time.

Good grief. I'll post pics if there is anything worthy to see when I view it later this week.

Centerforce II or a Centerforce Duel Friction if you have some internal mods to the motor. Those clutches work great (or at least for me they have). I am thinking about throwing a duel friction in my Dakota for when I have to haul the ATVs.

I'm considering the Centerforce II or dual friction for this, actually; Summit has them for a very good price!

I'm also checking into Spec clutches, more expensive but we'll see what my guy can get them for.

They haven't cracked open the case (that's tonight hopefully), but let's hope my billet flywheel in intact.

Had Centerforce in my Z-28..Great!!! Never a complaint on them. Loved it.
Nothing like a "row-ur-own" tranny. Sticks rule!
