1965 sport fury 2
1965 sport fury 2
Happy Father's Day everyone. Just came across this forum sight looking for advise on a first time muscle car build. I have the opportunity to buy a1965 Sport Fury 2. Has some hail damge, missing a few pieces of external trim, transmission not working and that is pretty much it. All original. Still has the service card with it. 383 big block. All of the interior is in good shape and all the external chrome is on good shape. Beautiful car but only concern I have is that parts for this car are non-existant. I can't find anything on eBay or any parts site. It seems like a super deal but just not what I am up against in getting parts. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you
Welcome.
This is one of the more desirable, good looking Chrysler Corp. bodies out there, at a good deal I say yes. Not many body parts for this one but its just metal. My checklist for this type of purchase is:
#1- Glass, all there, in good shape? Finding glass can stop a project.
#2- Chrome trim, all there? yes it can be found, straightened and rechromed but EXPENSIVE.
#3- Cowl and rear deck rust, look under the dash and trunk where the glass along the bottom meets the metal. This can be a difficult repair, if it's good I'm leaning toward a strong YES.
I am not looking at an all numbers matching completely original rebuild scenario so drivetrain, interior and electrics would be updated to make a reliable, comfortable automobile I could drive long distances with confidence.
If your looking at original rebuild then be ready for searching, travel and luck gathering parts.

The gentleman that showed it to me introduced it as a sport fury 2. What do I need to look for to verify the model? Also, would this be considered a C body car?

I wouldn't say that a mopar can't be two deferent models at one time, in the late 80s I had a costumer with a new Dodge Daytona with Chysler emblems and door pad on one side. Crazy.....
I allways thought it was strange that she accepted it from Dodge that way.
