400 BB Vacum advance
Hello everyone. I have a 78 D200 pick-up. It was stock and I put headers, an aluminum intake, and a holley 4-barrel on it. Now the vacum Advance is advancing the time timing way out of sight. Like 40 degrees plus. It gets to poping and pinging. I am wondering if anyone knows the remedy to this problem. Is there an adjustable vacum advance that can be purchased seperate for a stock distributer. Is that the solution? What is the solution to this problem? Thanks for any advice you can give.

On a Holley 4 barrel there is a timed vacuum source on the passenger side near the top of the carb. If you have it plugged to the bottom of the carb..ie the base plate that's your problem. There should be a picture of the carb and the vacuum connections in you Holley installation manual that came with the carb.
