67 Coronet 440
67 Coronet 440
Hi, I'm new here and I got a couple questions. So I'm looking at a 67 coronet 440. It has a 383 high performance engine with two four barrel carbs. I'm thinking about buying it, but the only problem is that its missing both carburetors. How much would it cost to replace them? What kind should I get? And how would I put them in?
Hi,
Welcome to the forum
I would put 2 390 cfm Holley's
part # 0-8007
that is as long as the bolt pattern on the intake is 5 3/16" by 5 5/8"
center to center where the carbs bolt on.
direct from Holley they would be $381.39 each
maybe cheaper from Summit racing.

You can check the engine vacuum @ idle (in gear if it is an auto trans)
and if it is 13" or more the stock power valves in these carbs will be good
if it is lower than 13" cut your # in 1/2 and that will = the size power valves you will need to run
example 9" of vacuum will need a 4.5 power valve
and so on
that is for power valve size
as far as carb size I wound not go any bigger than 390's
unless it is built to rev very high
A 383 @ 5500 PRM calls for a 600 with a single carb
Thanks

Starting it would only be to size the power valves
If you chose to buy it
You can go on and get it and get these carbs and after you install them
then you can fire it up and check the vacuum
