68 Charger

Hello, I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Tony and new to the forums. I'm looking to completely restore a 68 Charger I've owned for a few years. I'm not much of a gear head though, so I'm looking for suggestions. I'm looking to rebuild it with some new tech with the old school feel. The numbers didn't match when I bought it, so I'm not concerned with originality. Currently has a 440, but thinking of buying a new Keith Black motor. I am thinking of the new tech for suspension, I want the feel of a daily driver with alot of power. Looking for great handling on the curves with the power to run away when the road straightens out. Any thoughts out there? Thanks for looking.

Welcome to the forum... Sounds like a great project... With all the late model suspension upgrades available today I be you will accomplish all your goals... Might check out the Mopar of the Month contest to get some other ideas on what others have done. While there you may want to cast a vote and help choose the monthly winner.....

Here are some pics of my project to be. This is the first time joining any forum, so I'll see if I can get this right the first time (as far as posting pictures).

Looks like ya got it right the first time! Welcome. I love those '68 Charger R/Ts. Being night time pics, it's a little hard to tell the condition, but it seems pretty solid for a great project. Good luck with it!

you might want to take extra care of that front grill you cant replace them. As far as I know they havent started manufacturing them and originals bring top dollar

I have no plans of making a dukes car out of it. My plan is to strip it down to the frame, powder coat the frame mopar blue, along with engine components. Then paint the car black for a nice black on blue look. What do you think?

Welcome! one problem with stripping it down to the frame... chargers are uni-body meaning the frame is an integral piece of the body (all one piece) and have no frame. so powdercoating just the frame is prob impossible but painting it blue you for sure can do! engine components you can p/c obviously since they can come off the body. good luck with your adventure!!

I love the looks of a '68 Charger! And then, the R/T makes it's own statement! Welcome to the forum!

Yeah, I've been thinking I want to take it the pro-touring route, so what do you all think about a Keith Black crate motor? Or are there better options out there?
