68 Coronet

Recently acquired a 68 Coronet with the stock 273 / auto trans setup. Also got a 64 383 separately and I am working on it to bring it up to about 400 hp. First time digging this deep into an engine (never did a lower end before). Anyway, it is apart and all looks good. I want the car to be a daily driver, so no heavy changes will be made to the pistons, cam or heads. But I would like some advice on new pistons (slight overbore is ok), maybe a 3/4 cam, headers, new intake manifold and carb as well as headers, roller rockers, roller timing chain, hot coil and a nice open exhaust system. Any recommendations for those parts or others would be great.

Welcome!

400HP at the crank or rear wheel? If at the rear wheel, you might want to shoot for ~450HP at the crank. Either way, it is very doable. Here is what I would do.

Mopar Performance Cam
Mopar Performance Dual Plane Intake Manifold
Edlebrock 650 carb
Pair of 915 heads
Pair of shorty Hedman Street Hedders - #78076
Clevite 77 bearings

That setup is designed for a street vehicle/daily driver IMO. There are a ton of other options on everything though out there.

welcome to the forum, I would go with long tube headers, shorties do not do much for power,
Also a Holley is more for performance, Edelbrock is good for point A to point B
Every NASCAR ran a Holley carb intill this year when they went with Holley EFI
