73 440 Cuda . It seems to get quieter when it warms up I have a video ofticking noise

Hey guys I am new to the forum I have a lime green 73 for 40 Cuda originally set up for dragracing car has been running great. Had a faint ticking noise. Put on a new holly 750 HP carburetor and now the ticking noise is more apparent. I have done all the basics exterior wise other than tearing motor apart really can’t hear where the ticking noise is coming from . It seems to get quieter when it warms up I have a video of the sound it’s more of a high-pitched tick doesn’t sound like a rod knock or lifter chatter? I’ve been dealing with it for a few months and stomped. Haven’t figured out how to post a video from my phone as of yet I’m working on it

Cd -

Exhaust leak vs. bad lifter (if hydrolic).

If it's a blown header gasket, snugging the bolts won't help.
Get a pair of Remflex header gaskets. They are the only ones that really perform as advertised. .

Try it in the dark to see ignition spark leak but I do think it is an exhaust leak. The old tube at the ear makes a good stethoscope.

Compression test it... Come back with the numbers...
Also. Do all the spark plugs look like there burning even?
Also. Listen Like the others have said... Could be the ticking you might be hearing is just the motor exhausting in the header pipe near the flange. That could be timing from the ignition of cam timing? I say that only because you made reference that the tick became more defined after adding the extra fuel to the engine..

My hunch is, If it's not and exhaust leak, I'd check the valve springs. That kind of sounds like a lash tick to me. Kind of hard to tell with the gear Drive and all. ( I hate them noisy azz things....lol)

Just my 2 cents at the moment...

Snuging header bolt will not fix a gasket leak but it will help you diagnose one, geez!

Mine had a whirring noise behind the dash .. when I left a mechanics, seemed they bumped the (number 32 of fixes on my list) the air vents, which
aren't happy. Hope you found it okay, Keep in touch as keen to touch base with other 1973 cuda owners as just started my journey with mine. evette
