So i found an ad on CL and just wanted you all's to cents if its a steal, a bargan, a rip off or what not.

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/2809981704.html

1973 Plymouth Duster $4800

-bored .100 over
-pretty wild cam, but don't know exact specs
-heads ported and polished
-clifford 6:8 intake
-4 bll edelbrock 500 cfm carb
-2 inch intake spacer
-K&N air filter
-A904 transmission rebuilt when motor was. Has 3000 rpm stall converter that was tuned in with cam.
-8 3/4" with 2.73 rear
-Headers and Dual 40 series flowmaster
-Front disc and rear drum brakes
-New front and rear shocks
-New ignition switch
-Recent alignment
-137,700 miles on body
-Tac, compression, temp, and battery gauges installed
-pioneer cd player with ipod jack and 2 pioneer 6x9's
-BFGoodrich radial T/A 14" front and 15" rear
-Crager SS
-Grant GT steering wheel
-Power steering and power brakes
-Heavy tinted rear window and lighter tinted passenger/driver windows
-New EverStart Premium battery

Many extras including:
-another cam
-valve cover
-headers
-spare tire with extra lug nuts
-jack
-tire iron
-jumper cables
-rubber floor mats
-5 Qtz tranny fluid
-tape deck
-new air filter
-carb calibration kit
-misc. cleaning
-old speakers 2 6x9's

Not perfect but is in good shape for the year and a good cruiser. Clean & Clear California title in my name. Blue collector plate. No smog needed. Price is $4800.

the phrase good shape for the year caught my eye so i asked he replyed
"Hi, there is some rust on the bottom of the rear quarter panels along with some chips in the paint. Mostly on the doors from door jams. The interior is mostly stock blue (original color of the car). " and i got pics
i am pretty novice but learning. my first task will be the rust then the seats but just need some help to know if it is worth it.

thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the Forum. I think it sounds reasonable IMHO.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum.... My best guess is that is a fair price but there are people on here with more experience that I have on these matters... While you are on here be sure to check out the Mopar of the Month contest...

Welcome!

I would question the bored 0.100 over but the rest seems like a pretty good deal. A little rust is going to be normal and with what he said, it doesn't sound too bad.

I would probably jump on it. It doesnt look to bad from the pics good projects are hard to come by now a days. From what i seen at car shows alot of the duster/demon projects have been going for around that price. Idk about that .100 over either with 78D200 seems a bit excessive. I paid 3500 for my 72 340 duster. You can probably get him down in price a little.

according to this site:

http://www.slantsix.org/articles/stroking/stroking.htm

.100 over is ok. .104 and .130 can even be done as long as the block is tested to have no defect.

what do you think i should offer him that wouldn't be an insult and he might consider taking?

Personally I would look for one with a 318. The 6 looks cool, but a mild 318 would be faster.
I would offer $4k

Welcome I am going to lowball everyone else, offer 3,000.00. I would give him more if it had a V-8 and original hood. I have something like that hood on my car but it's just not right on a slant six. Don't get me wrong on the slants they were the most common motor in a F-Body.

yup but the f-bodies were a bit smaller. i think if i offered him $3k. he would meet me just to spit in my face.

i am thinking ill offer 3800. all it really needs is some cancer removal and the seats redone or swapped. though the more i read these forums the more my list is growing...

body lightening
disc breaks
bucket seats
tranny swap or O/D install.
plus if i do get it when ever anything fails if i cant rebuild it i will buy the light weight(but still strong) alternative.
the dollar signs keep stacking up. i definitely got the sickness and i dont even have the car yet lol

3800 seems pretty good for that. You could always do an engine swap later on and part the six for some extra . You can still find 360s around relatively cheap.
