88-90 Dodge truck fuel pump module

Hi all-
I registered here a while back thinking I might run into some trouble on this project, and YES I DID.. I've got an '88 B250 van, 3.9l auto with the big (30 gal?) plastic tank. The fuel pump assembly (#4203883) basically consists of the pump, reservoir, check valve, fuel gauge sender, coiled metal line, and top plate. It is long out of production. My understanding of this system is that the pump draws from the reservoir which is filled by the return line from the injectors, and the check valve keeps the fuel from dumping back into the tank. The truck is extremely difficult to start, and upon inspection the rubber part(s) in the check valve have turned to mush and are probably impeding flow. This whole thing looks like it'd have to be re-engineered to get around the check valve. In addition, upon removal I discovered that the fuel gauge sender has essentially fallen apart and it looks like there are internal parts missing. matter of fact nothing in the assembly works except the pump itself.
This assembly is across the board for the 88-90 TBI 3.9 and 5.2 engines and from what I'm finding out is a ball of trouble. Anybody got any insight into this carbuncle
?

Sounds like you may need to find something as a replacement on E-Bay?
if you can not find a replacement module unit.. Maybe check with Aeromotive and see if you can get a fuel tank and a pump say to work with your van….
good luck and keep up posted!!!!

Thanks, Bob. And just so everyone's aware, the outfit in New York (Tristarr) that used to work on these units no longer does, but referred me to another gent from whom I anxiously await a reply.
