g'day vorsy , i went from 3.55 to 3.9 and lost 2mph & 2 tenths over the 1/4 mile . with no other change . but it was a bit warmer & humidity was up the s@#t . if it's not a all out drag car 3.7 or 3.5 might be a bit better on the street . thats my 2 cents worth .

I never claimed to be an Einstien, but on the track, I thought the rear gear #'s were sized to make sure you were near the end of your powerband, in final gear when you cross the line. I mean you dont want to be still accelerating much then, you want to have used up almost everything you have by the line. If you hit third, or fourth in a stick, and you are just passin 4k when you trip the lights, then you are WRONG! From what I read, you want to shift just as every powerband starts to fall off in that gear, and trip the lights just as the powerband starts to fall off in your final gear.

by the time you finish the race, to get the best possible time, you should be at redline in your final gear

my 3.9 is a 8 3/4 30 spline , detroit locker & big brake drums , crossing the line @ about 5000 rpm . i'm thinking the extra weight is taxing more power so that with the worse weather as well that might explain the loss of et & loss of 2 mph . i didn't have time 2 explain this last time .
