Big newbie here. Looking to resurrect my dad's Charger.

Hi MoparForums! Thought I would join up and possibly get some advice on how to go about resurrect my dad's charger. I am 25 and let me start by saying that I do not know much about cars but I am willing to learn for this one! My dad has had his Charger for as long as I can remember and as a kid I remember it ran and my mom would even take us to school in it. At some point we stopped using it but I can't remember why. Anyway, I believe its a '71 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum.

My goal for this post was to, #1 introduce myself and #2 ask for some advice on where to start this project. The car needs a lot of work on many levels but can be saved!

Welcome to the forum... You are right it is worth saving!!!!! My advise is to get it out of the weeds and do a better job of evulating where to start and go from there... A lot of good Mopar knowledge on here and all are great to share..... Also look at the Mopar of the month contest... Get some ideas on what others have done... See the sticky for the simple rules and you can help choose the winner...

You cut the weeds and found a car!!! How cool is that! J/K, looks like a decent project, as Mr. Reeves said, get it on solid ground and do a thorough evaluation of the entire car. Post up some pics of the good the bad and the ugly and we can see what you actually have to work with and what direction you should go in.

Welcome, definitely a model worth saving, and keeping original if you can.

Welcome aboard get it off the ground as stated above. Make sure you crawl underneath and have a good look. Would be ashamed to see rotted out frame rails. But that is a sad possibility. Good Luck

Yes it needs to be outta the weeds and grass for sure. Post a clear pic of the fender tag and it can be decoded as to the options,etc... Sure has that 80's vib going on....

Aside from the car's structure being sound, my biggest concern would be brakes. Make sure they're safe, bud. Oh, and welcome.

Welcome to the forum!

That Charger is definitely a keeper!
I spent a lot of time in a car like that, 440 Magnum and all..... It was white with factory black stripes and the bulge in the hood was also black.

Fun car!
