New Guy needing help buying

Hey gang,

I'm new. As in fresh paint noob new. But I'm looking to get into a classic mopar. Currently I have 3 cars in the running. A Dodge coronet 500 2 dr coup with a 318 in it. The question is below. And two others. One I don't think is a mopar but the other is.

Forgive if I am mistaken. Like I said new car like new when it comes to this. The other two are a 1967 Plymouth III coupe and a 1967 Belvedere. GLad to meet you all and I look forward to your feedback. Hopefully I will get one of these babies on the road of Winnipeg soon.

Anywhoo, on to my question.

The car in question is a 1967 Dodge Coronet 500 2 dr coup. It comes with the original 318 motor (matching numbers). The body looks to be in great shape. Floor boards are rock solid, and though there is some surface rust on the undercarriage. The car looks to be in good condition since it was parked indoors for 3 years. My only two concerns are the patch inside the trunk (has a new fuel tank) and both rocker panels. The panels look to have been sprayed over with a protector, from years ago. A thick black rubber cover. However, when the car was hoisted up and we inspected it, both of the rocker panels are soft and you can hear things rattling underneath within them. Suffice it too say they will both have to be replaced.

Other things of note is the seats will have to be re upholstered. Dash appears to be in great shape except for two minor cracks and interior is complete. The car is really in good shape body wise (except to the things I mentioned) and the motor started (has been sitting for 3 years) and seems to run well.

My question is this. Is this car worth $6900.00?

That's the asking price the gentlemen gave me. It seems abit much considering the body work that needs to be done/interior/engine relatively untested after 3 years. This will be a project car I would hope to eventually restore back to "new" condition, but considering your understanding of the worth of these types of cars your input would be greatly appreciated.

Again any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated, since I am new to the classic car restoration(as you know), and this would be my first one.

I think too much. Many sellers are stuck on the phrase "numbers matching" like it doubles the value automatically. It's a very desireable car but with a 318. If it was one of the performance models, maybe.

Rust issues can get very expensive. I would say at least $3K too much. May be $6900 only if it was an original RT/440 motor car. You could easily spend $10K+ restoring it...

This would actually be a better deal,

Welcome to the forum... I leave the apprasials to others.. I'm just a racer and know little of those things.. But I do know you need to check out the Mopar of the Month contest... See the sticky for the simple rules and then you can help choose the monthly winners.....
