Hey guys, 16 from Australia. I own a 76 chrysler centura with a standard 245 auto, Ive managed to pick up a 265 with a 3spd manual and a spare 245 with an auto.Ive also picked up 2 sets of jellys 8x15 yet to be put on. so far Ive put the 265 carby and extractors on to the 245 but tossing up wheather to bolt in the 3spd with the 265 or leave the 245 and bolt a b&m shifter in it? only problem is I dont have the linkages for the 3spd manual so that may be an issue ..any ideas?
cheers Alex

Hey Alex, can't answer your question on which tranny to use but just wanted to welcome you to the forum.... I'm sure others will be able to head you in the right direction... Also, be sure to check out the Mopar of the Month contest...
Thankyou anyway I appreciate it
I'd love to sit the 265 out for a bit then rebuild it and bore it out chuck a lumpy cam in, tripple carbs and extractors to straight through pipe. All in good time though Haha

Welcome and hello,
Which state are you in?
If your in Victoria best you you go small block 360 STOCK lots of mufflers the reasons being the po-po.
Quiet as hell but fun when you need it ! LOL.
No but seriously the po-po this is a real problem in Victoria.
I had a CL Regal wagon Stella blue with off white interior 265 hemi 3 speed auto stock. I never had a problem with that car mechanically and i gave it hell, line lockers, ronnies you name it we did it, plenty of power, so to put one in a Centura (stock)lots of power with drivabilty. I was set to buy a Centura back in the day and put a 265 3 speed auto in it, but the missus pulled the handbrake ,so i was'nt going anywhere with that one.
So here's what i was going to do, put the 245 head on the 265 to bump the compression up, a cain or redline 4 barrel manifold 465/500 Holley , mild cam kit (ROLLER no less), maybe roller rockers, headers and that would have been more than enough to do some damage. This in a Centura will be a rocket, as for the auto i'd just leave the auto in there as is.
just my 2 cents but maybe you can pull some ideas from this.
Why do you want go 3 speed stick/manual?
The 265 should bolt straight up to the auto, exactly the same dimensions .
