New Member 1971 340 Duster
Im 17 years old, i bought this duster by myself. Paid fully by me. All insurance and repairs all by me. Its a 1971 340 Plymouth Duster. its got a 750cfm 4bbl holley carb, 727 torqueflight tranny, 3.91 gears, 3 speed automatic, engine was rebuilt and has about 50k miles on it, tranny was rebuilt and has about 20kmiles. I had Heddman Hedders installed going to flow master 2 chamber high performance mufflers. Gotta love that dual exhaust! I have a fuel cell in it and a 9 quart oil pan. The interior isnt great (mainly head liner) but the back bench seat is perfect and i put two seat covers on the front. Im looking to buy a new right front fender because some moron hit me and i think its cheaper to replace the fender then fix it. I don't believe its a stock paint color. The color underneath it appears to be a baby blue color but im told that it may be primer. When i open the door and look towards the engine i see a goldish paint color with sparkles in it. Some guys say that the paintjob might have been done to mimic the gold duster. Im looking to improve my performance and appearance as much as i can by doing the work by myself.
The video is just of me starting it up because my friend who lives a couple of states over wanted to hear it. I was revving it to about 2500-3000 rpm.Im also looking to get a new paintjob on it because it is getting old and not looking too great. Any ideas for colors and decals? I like the stripe going down the side leading to the 340 sticker. Any other ideas? Rear Spoiler maybe? Hood Scoop? Thanks everyone

Welcome to the forum. Thats a nice duster you've got there.
The stripe is usually black or white, or at least most of the ones that I have seen have been black or white. A bright red or organe would like killer. You could do leave it the blue that it is and do the stripe or the gold from the goden version.
As for some more performance, an edlebrock intake would help out that little orange box you've got. I'd also install a 45,000 volt coil and some 8mm (minimum) wires. A posi unit in the rear end would really give you some extra get up and go too.

There are factory 340 hoods out there that you could swap on. Its a dual scoop design and says 340 on the outside of each scoop.

Welcome to the Forum! Nice Duster, for the paint question, it can easily be determined what the factory color was. It looks like the fender tag is still there in the pics ( i'm also half blind so I could be seeing things), just post up the codes on the tag and we'll decode that puppy for ya.

Welcome to the forums and you will have one heck of a Duster when you get it done and maybe a candy color for the paint as blue,red and leave the strip down the side those look good on the duster and Tim that better not be a project duster you found hehehe WELCOME

i do have a posi in it i believe. As for the hood, am i better off buying one without paint and just saving it untill i can re-paint the car? and what do you guys think of doing the Black Hood and have the 340 in the corner going diagnol? Anyone know what im talking about?

Its your car, you can do whatever you want to it.
I do know what you are talking about with teh 340 numbers being large block numbers on the hood. I think a black hood with the color you have now won't work that good. If you change the color of the car to a brighter color with a black hood and the "340" block numbers, then it would look good.

I like the blackout hood treatment. I am thinking of doing that with my '72 roadrunner, its lemon twist yellow. I know they weren't stock for '72 but I have always liked the look of the old 6-pack lift offs. So I was going to add a functional scoop to an extra hood I have, black it out, and put Fake hood pins in the back corner.
