Hi,
My name's Dave and I recently picked up a 1973 Dodge D200 Club Cab pickup with a 400 and a 4 speed in it. I've done a few things already, like installed an electric fuel pump, air cleaner, pcv, oil and coolant, and am in the process of coil, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. It still has the original 2-barrel carb on it and was converted over to electronic ignition before I purchased it.
I have two questions for everyone here:
1. What forum topic area should I be posting in for my pickup?
2. What do you guys recommend as a good aftermarket replacement for the stock ignition coil on an electronic ignition system?
Thanks guys!

Welcome to the Mopar forms 73Dodge400!!
I would use the Mopar Blaster Coil P4876732 or just a new stock coil from Mopar.
Not sure if you are going to make modifications to the engine, ie. bigger carb, crank etc.
Those two coils would be my choice for a pretty much stock engine.

1- if you have questions conserning the mechanics, the tech section
just talking about your truck, the body-style section
2- mopar electronic ignition is good, and it has worked for me.
some guys like MSD

Sounds good. I'm looking at either the Mopar or MSD. From what I understand, MSD wants an inline ballast resistor installed with the high-performance Blaster 2 coil, but I know that the dodge already has one located next to the ignition control module. It is a 4-pin ballast resistor. Do I need to install an additional ballast resistor as well, or will the factory do just fine?

Welcome!
You must be talking about one of these....
This is on a 1978 D200 pick-up that I had with a 318. I had the supplied ballast resister installed per instructions. This coil was designed just for Mopar as it came with the proper ballast resister. I believe I got it through Summit Racing.

1. Do you have an epoxy filled coil? I see you mounted it horizontally. Most of what I am finding are oiled...
2. My stock ignition control module already has a factory ballast resistor setup with it and the coil. Will that ballast resistor work if I replace my factory coil with an MSD Blaster 2, or do I have to install a second ballast resistor per MSD instructions?
