New to Mopars
Hi all. I am a vintage Buick guy and owned MANY 50s-60s Buicks, but recently got a steal on a very, very, rare Mopar I couldn't pass up. Its a 1959 Desoto Firedome 4dr sedan I purchased from the 2nd owner. It was bought new in my area (Nebraska) and spent its entire life here. I saved it from a untimely fate and even got all the factory paperwork with it! I don't feel 'dirty' for buying a Mopar as Buick is the reason why not only GM exists, but the entire Chrysler Company. So its a natural progression I tell myself. lol. Anyways I will be picking your guys brains about certain things (namely the B block 383, push button torqueflight, and rear end).

David Buick started building engines in the late 1890s and Invented the overhead valve engine, and was the first automobile company to use overhead valves and has since day one. Durrant never thought of the automobile as nothing more than a passing fad until at the New York auto show he saw a Buick and decided to invest and started General Motors to purchase the Buick automobile company. They connection with Mopar is Walter Chrysler got a degree in mechanical engineering and worked designing steam locomotives. He ended up becoming the CEO of the Buick division of General Motors. Durrant offered him a Insane salary at the time because he did such a good job. After his 10 year contract with Durrant was up he took what he learned from running Buick and started his own company with his money. The rest is history. I like Mopar‘s and I love Buick’s. All are great automobiles 👍
