new to mopars
hi my name is John, im from michigan. just got my first mopar, a 71 dodge charger. my dad has had a few mopars, 70 aar cuda, and a 66 satelitte. im new to this mopar stuff, as i am a chevy guy. but anyways... i traded a 4x4 truck for this charger. original glass, its solid except for the floorpan on the front drivers side. 
one of my newbie questions are: i hear there is a tag on the motor to find out if it matches the vin? where is it? i looked and didnt see anything.
it starts up and runs. i drove it up and down the driveway. that 318 2bbl will turn them...
its amazing what fenders and doors will do for a car

I think your looking for the number just above the oil pan and if im not mistaken when your looking at the motor head on its on the left or the passenger side just above the oil pan on the block
