Unhappy Torqueflite 727 question

I have a dilema in my e-body project. When I remove the 318 motor and the transmission from my Barracuda I notice that this transmission is longer than other 727 Torqueflite that I removed from a donor Barracuda. The difference is about 6 inches or more. Also the driveshafts have different measurment to compensate. They also have different marking numbers above. The short tranmission has 452-7, the longer transmission has 844-6. Does this number means something?. To those who know more of this Torqueflite transmissions, does this numbers means something?. I thought that all small block Torqueflite 727 transmissions where the same. Longer trans maybe from a Mopar truck? Any help in this dilema will be appreciate. Oh I forget to tell, longer transmission is from a 70'Barracuda and the shorter is from a 72'.
